Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched a ballistic missile attack targeting northern Israel. The development has been confirmed by several global media outlets, including The Times of Israel and Al Jazeera.

According to IRGC sources, the retaliatory strike was launched in response to a recent Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) attack on the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The assault took place around 11:30 PM local time on Sunday. While the exact number of missiles fired and the full extent of the damage were not immediately clear, the IDF confirmed that rocket sirens and incoming missile alerts were activated across multiple locations in northern Israel.

Shortly afterward, the IDF reported that Iran had fired at least 10 ballistic missiles toward northern Israel, adding that air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed all targets before they could impact.

Emergency Measures Enacted
In the immediate aftermath of the strike, the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the closure of all educational institutions, including schools, across Israel. Authorities also urged citizens to leave their homes and move into safe rooms and bomb shelters.

The escalation follows an Israeli Air Force (IAF) airstrike on Saturday evening (June 6) targeting Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut, Lebanon. That raid reportedly injured at least 20 people, including four children.

On the same day, the IAF conducted separate airstrikes in southern Lebanon, which reportedly killed several Lebanese military personnel, including a Brigadier General.

Rhetoric Escalates via Official Channels
Following the missile launches into northern Israel, Mohsen Rezaee, an advisor to the Iranian armed forces, posted a statement on social media platform X:

"We have repeatedly stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not tolerate ceasefire violations and aggression in Lebanon. Tonight, we responded to the aggressors."

"However, this is merely a warning. If the evil forces do not heed this warning, the next strike will be far more extensive, and the aggressors will pay a heavy price."

In a swift reaction to the Iranian strikes, Israel's far-right politician and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted his own response on X, stating: "Tehran will be burned down."
