Iran is set to unveil a new deadly weapon named the "Father of All Bombs," according to Hossein Mohabi, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
He stated that the weapon is something the enemy has never seen before.
The IRGC's announcement comes at a time when the United States is reportedly considering the deployment of a massive bomb known as the "Mother of All Bombs" against Iran.
The weapon is the largest and most lethal non-nuclear bomb in the U.S. arsenal.
Speaking to the news agency YJCNA on Wednesday (October 21), the IRGC spokesperson said regarding the new weapon, "We are in the preparation stage of unveiling the 'Father of All Bombs.' It is a new weapon for our enemies."
However, Mohabi did not disclose details about the type of weapon, its yield, operational capability, or the exact date of its planned unveiling.
What Is the U.S. 'Mother of All Bombs'?
The "Mother of All Bombs" is recognized as the world's largest non-nuclear bomb and is considered a specialized asset within the U.S. military inventory.
Its potential deployment could significantly escalate tensions between the United States and Iran.
Over the past few weeks, Trump administration officials have convened at the White House to deliberate on various strategic options regarding the U.S.-Iran conflict.
A U.S. official told CNN last week that when the military devises contingency plans, it provides policymakers with a wide range of options spanning high to low levels of offensive measures.
"Targets situated deep underground require large ordnance, and the 'Mother of All Bombs' is the largest non-nuclear bomb available," the official noted.
CNN reported that questions have emerged within the U.S. military regarding the bomb's actual effectiveness against Iran's deeply buried nuclear sites and subterranean infrastructure.
An official involved in military planning expressed reservations to CNN about whether the weapon could successfully achieve Washington's strategic objectives.
Citing multiple sources, the report highlighted that while the GPS-guided bomb can devastate an area equivalent to nine city blocks, it likely lacks the capability to penetrate and destroy Iran's nuclear facilities located under Pickaxe Mountain, which are fortified beneath thick layers of granite.
Its effectiveness against other Iranian nuclear facilities also remains doubtful.
Nevertheless, analysts suggest that President Trump may consider using the "Mother of All Bombs" primarily as a psychological deterrent.
