Tehran has accused the United States of carrying out an attack on a wedding ceremony in Iran, resulting in the deaths of at least five people, including a child. Al Jazeera reported this information on Wednesday (September 2).

According to the report, the U.S. launched the attack in the southern region of Sirik. Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the strike targeted a residential building in the city of Kuhestak early Wednesday morning. Iran's Press TV also confirmed that at least five people were killed.

Reza Shahidian, governor of Sirik County, told state broadcaster IRIB that 63 others were injured in the attack. Among the injured are 50 women and children, who are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Minab, where their conditions have been reported as stable.

The semi-official Fars News Agency published an account from a child who survived the attack. According to the child, a powerful blast occurred shortly after arriving at the venue, injuring many from flying debris.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military stated that it has launched fresh strikes targeting Iranian military facilities, air defense systems, radars, maritime assets, minelaying capabilities, and communication centers.

U.S. forces claimed these operations were conducted in response to attempts by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to target commercial vessels and American troops in the Strait of Hormuz.
