India's Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, has stated that India never seeks any conflict with Bangladesh. He commented, "We do not want any kind of tension with our neighboring country."
However, in a clear reference to the head of Bangladesh's interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, he added that when Yunus makes comments, he should speak after giving it careful thought (or be cautious about his statements).
Rajnath Singh offered his perspective on the differences between India and Bangladesh in an interview with the Indian media network, Network-18, on Friday (November 7).
Responding to a question from the Indian media about Dr. Yunus reportedly giving a map to a Pakistani General and making various statements, Rajnath Singh said that the head of Bangladesh's interim government should be mindful when making comments.
Recently, Indian media reports claimed that Professor Muhammad Yunus had gifted a flag, which included a distorted map of Bangladesh incorporating parts of India's Northeast, to a senior Pakistani military official.
However, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing rejected such reports as 'completely false and fabricated'.
Relations between India and Bangladesh have become cooler since the fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, 2024, following a mass student-led uprising.
Sheikh Hasina left the country and took refuge in India. Subsequently, Professor Yunus took charge as the Chief Adviser of the country's interim government.
