The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has scheduled Tuesday for the delivery of its verdict in a crimes against humanity case concerning homicides committed during the July-August Mass Uprising 2024, involving seven defendants, most notably Awami League General Secretary and former minister Obaidul Quader.

The three-member judicial panel, presided over by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, fixed the ruling date through a brief directive issued this morning.

Previously, on August 17, the secondary tribunal placed the matter on CAV (curia advisari vult)—a Latin judicial expression signifying that the bench is awaiting judgment—upon concluding final legal arguments on that date.

During the proceedings, the prosecution pressed for the capital punishment for all defendants alongside the forfeiture of their assets.

The remaining individuals named as co-accused in the matter comprise Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, former State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, Jubo League President Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, Jubo League General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, the president of the outlawed Bangladesh Chhatra League Saddam Hossain, and Chhatra League General Secretary Wali Asif Inan.

The second tribunal previously issued warrants for the apprehension of the seven defendants on December 18, 2025.

The ICT-2 promulgated the order upon formally taking cognizance of the formal charges submitted against the group.
