The High Commission of India in Dhaka has introduced new mandatory requirements for Indian visa applicants. Moving forward, submitting a "Visa Undertaking Form" in a prescribed format has been made compulsory for all categories of visa applications.

The announcement was made in an urgent advisory published on the High Commission’s visa portal on Thursday (November 5).

According to the advisory, per the directives of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, submitting the undertaking form in the specified format is now mandatory for every applicant.

Steps Required under the New Rules:
Applicants must download the "Visa Undertaking Form" in the designated format from the link provided by the High Commission, fill it out accurately, and upload a scanned copy of the completed form along with their online visa application on the NIC Visa Application Portal.

Authorities noted that applicants must exclusively use the officially prescribed format. Submissions using any other format will not be accepted.

The High Commission stated that this new initiative has been implemented to make the visa application process more transparent and orderly.

Indian visa seekers have been advised to download the form from the designated link and complete their application process promptly.

Information Required on the Form
According to the published one-page "Visa Undertaking Form," applicants must first state their name and pledge that they will travel to India solely for the purpose declared in their application. They must also declare that, as of the date of application, they reside within the jurisdiction of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and that all provided information is accurate.

In Section 1 (Personal Details), five pieces of information must be mandatorily filled out: name as per passport, passport number, nationality, date of birth, and current address in Dhaka.

In Section 2 (Purpose of Visit), applicants must clearly specify their reason for travel, such as tourism, business, medical treatment, or conferences.

Sections 3 through 5 contain three core undertakings. Applicants must pledge that:

They will return to their home country immediately upon the conclusion of their trip and will under no circumstances overstay their visa in India.

While in India, they will abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and cultural norms of the country and will not engage in any unlawful activities. The form notes that any violation of the law may result in visa cancellation and jeopardize eligibility for future visas.

Finally, applicants must complete the form with their signature, place, and date. The guidelines specify that for minor applicants, both parents must sign the form.
