
Today marks the 57th birth anniversary of Arafat Rahman Koko, the younger son of BNP founder and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
Born on August 12, 1969, Koko passed away from a cardiac arrest in Malaysia on January 24, 2015.
To mark his birth anniversary, BNP leaders and activists will offer prayers and pay respects at Arafat Rahman Koko's grave in Banani this morning.
Additionally, a discussion meeting in his memory has been organized at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan.
In his personal life, Arafat Rahman Koko was known for his extreme simplicity and introverted nature.
Although he remained in the spotlight due to his family's political background, he consistently stayed away from publicity. However, his role in the country's sports arena was significant.
Koko was associated with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) from 2002 to 2005.
During his tenure, he played a vital role in keeping cricket free from political influence and contributing to the development of various sectors in national sports. His contributions as a sports organizer are still remembered in the country's sporting community.
Arafat Rahman Koko was the younger son of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia, and the younger brother of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Following his death, leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations have commemorated him every year on his birth anniversary through various programs.
