The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated an investigation against Bangladesh national cricket team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan over allegations of corruption. ACC Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen has stated that Shakib may potentially be named as an accused based on the findings.
Speaking to journalists during an Eid greeting and media briefing held in front of the ACC headquarters in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, Dr Momen confirmed the ongoing probe.
"We are currently investigating allegations against cricketer Shakib Al Hasan. There is a concern that he might be formally charged," the ACC chairman said.
In a written statement, he highlighted the commission's recent efforts: "Our new commission has only completed 75 working days. Once we cross the 100-day mark, you will be able to judge for yourselves whether the ACC has evolved into a more dynamic institution despite numerous challenges since our fresh start on August 5."
