The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an immediate mandate requiring all television channels to suspend the broadcast of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and its associated programming.

The directive, communicated via an official letter on Monday, serves as a formal protest against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their unexplained exclusion of Bangladeshi star pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad.

Bangladesh’s World Cup Matches Shifted to Sri Lanka

The ministry's letter emphasized that the BCCI’s decision lacked a reasonable justification and has caused widespread public indignation across Bangladesh. Consequently, all broadcast executives have been ordered to halt IPL-related content until further notice.

This broadcasting ban coincides with a historic low in sporting relations between the two nations.

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul announced on Sunday that Bangladesh has officially withdrawn from traveling to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

He described the boycott as a necessary stand against the "radical communal policy" currently being practiced by Indian cricket authorities, marking an unprecedented standoff in the region's cricketing history.
