Defending champions Bangladesh continued their dominant run in the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship, securing a clinical 2-0 victory over arch-rivals India at the Pokhara Rangasala Stadium in Nepal on Monday.

This win effectively places the Red and Green side on the doorstep of the final, following their massive 12-0 opening win against Bhutan.

Bangladesh now sits comfortably at the top of the table with a perfect six points from two matches.

India remains in second place with three points from two outings, while hosts Nepal and Bhutan have yet to secure a point.

Bangladesh’s spot in the final could be mathematically confirmed later today; if the match between Nepal and Bhutan ends in a draw, Bangladesh will qualify with a game to spare.

The match was decided by two first-half goals that showcased Bangladesh's tactical discipline.

Skipper Arpita Biswas broke the deadlock in the 29th minute with a well-placed strike and Alpi Akter doubled the lead in the 40th minute, sealing a lead that India struggled to threaten for the remainder of the game.

Bangladesh will play their final group-stage match against Nepal on Wednesday, February 4, at the same venue.

Under the tournament format, the top two teams from the round-robin stage will advance to the grand final, scheduled for February 7.
