Paltan Ground to Host Day-Long Rural Sports Carnival on Tuesday

The vibrant traditions of rural Bangladesh are set to take center stage on Tuesday (April 14) as the Paltan Ground, adjacent to the National Stadium, hosts the Baishakhi Sports Festival to mark the Bengali New Year 1433.

Organized by Mashumi Industries Limited, the day-long competition aims to celebrate and preserve the country’s rich heritage of traditional sports.

The festival will feature an extensive lineup of athletic events, including Archery, Volleyball, Sepak Takraw, Kho Kho, and Kabaddi.

Highlighting the folk roots of the region, the event will also showcase Lathi Khela (traditional stick fighting) and Boli Khela, the iconic wrestling tradition of Chattogram.

In an effort to revive cultural history, several nearly extinct rural games will be played, alongside a special exhibition featuring the talents of para-athletes.

State Minister for Youth and Sports, Md. Aminul Haque, is expected to grace the occasion as the chief guest.

He will be joined by the Secretary of the Youth and Sports Ministry Mahbub-ul-Alam, who will attend as a special guest.
