The election for the board of directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be held on June 7, less than two months after Tamim Iqbal took charge as president of the ad-hoc interim committee.

Tamim, who assumed office on April 7, had earlier pledged to hold the election three months ahead of schedule in a bid to restore normalcy to the board's administration.

The Chief Election Commissioner's office announced the schedule for the BCB Board of Directors Election 2026 in a notification issued on Saturday.

According to the announced schedule, voting will take place on June 7 and the final results will be declared on the same day.

The draft voter list was officially published on Sunday.

Objections to the list will be accepted and heard on May 18, and the final voter list will be published at 5:00 pm on the same day following the completion of the hearing process.

Nomination papers will be distributed on May 20 and 21 between 10 am and 4 pm.

Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers on May 21 and 22 from 11 am to 5 pm.

The scrutiny of nominations and the subsequent publication of the preliminary candidate list will take place on May 23.

Appeals against the scrutiny decisions will be accepted and heard on May 24, while the withdrawal of nominations and the publication of the final candidate list are scheduled for May 25.

Applications for postal and e-ballots must also be submitted on the same day.

The election process will temporarily pause for the Eid-ul-Azha holidays before resuming on June 1 with the dispatch of postal and e-ballots.

Voting through postal and e-ballots will continue until June 6, and the deadline for these ballots to reach the Returning Officer is set for 1 pm on June 7.

In-person polling will be held at the BCB headquarters in Mirpur on June 7 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with the official results scheduled to be announced at 6 pm.

A total of 23 directors will be elected directly by the voters, while two additional directors will be nominated by the National Sports Council.

The new BCB president will subsequently be elected by the collective votes of these 25 directors.

The election commission overseeing the entire process is headed by Ahsanul Karim, a senior advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court.

The other members of the commission are Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Israil Hawlader and National Sports Council Director and Assistant Secretary ABM Ehsanul Mamun.
