World football's governing body, FIFA, has launched an inquiry following an altercation between players and technical staff members from Spain and Argentina in the aftermath of Sunday's World Cup final.

Upon reviewing the match report submitted by the referee, FIFA confirmed the appointment of an investigator pursuant to Article 36 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

In an official release, the organization stated, "Following an assessment of the match report from the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, disciplinary proceedings have been opened."

FIFA further clarified that its disciplinary panel will determine subsequent measures once the investigator completes and presents their official findings.

Although Spain defeated Argentina to capture the World Cup title, post-match festivities quickly deteriorated into a chaotic confrontation involving members of Argentina's coaching staff along with squad members from both sides.

Clips circulating across social media platforms captured Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes in a heated dispute with Spanish defender Eric Garcia before Paredes appeared to strike him, igniting a widespread brawl on the pitch.
