Javier Tebas, president of Spain's La Liga, has stated that FIFA President Gianni Infantino's leadership is no longer sustainable. He accused Infantino's various plans of threatening the core foundation of football, particularly the existence of national leagues.

Alongside demanding a change in FIFA's leadership, he also called for reforms across the entire football system.

In an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde, Tebas directly declared that the Infantino era is over. According to him, the time has come to bring a change to the control of world football.

Tebas has long been vocal in demanding Infantino's resignation. He had called for the FIFA president to step down even before controversies surrounding the sale of World Cup commercial partnerships came to light.

Tebas said, "For me, Gianni Infantino's time ended a long time ago. I am not saying this because of recent events. I have been observing his leadership style for a long time, while others are only discovering it now."

The La Liga president further stated that Gianni Infantino is not contributing to the development of football; rather, his projects are destroying football's core foundation—national leagues.

According to Tebas, football is not just about being controlled by the elite. Therefore, solutions should not be sought merely by replacing one person with another; rather, systemic reform is needed.

He said, "Football is not limited to the elite. For me, the Infantino era is over. Now it remains to be seen when that will take effect and how a successor will be determined. I hope it won't just be replacing one person with another, but true reform."

Criticism from European football officials regarding Infantino's leadership has also intensified recently.

Reports indicate that several European football associations have taken a stance to remove the 56-year-old Swiss official from the post of FIFA president.

The Football Association of Norway has also demanded Infantino's resignation.

Additionally, several European football bodies have withdrawn their letters of support for Infantino's next term. Discontent regarding Infantino remaining at the helm of world football has reportedly been brewing within UEFA as well.

All in all, Tebas's latest remarks have further fueled the ongoing controversy surrounding the discontent over Infantino's leadership in European football.
