Bangladesh suffered arguably their worst-ever One-Day International series defeat, not only being whitewashed by Afghanistan but also setting a major example of dismal batting in two consecutive matches. After failing to chase a modest 190 in the previous game, Mehidy Hasan Miraz's team faced a challenging target of 294 in the final match.

Bangladesh failed to reach a triple-figure score in the third ODI, a day after barely managing one in the second. Afghanistan registered their biggest win in terms of runs against Bangladesh in their 22-match ODI history, and it was their second-largest victory by a 200-run margin in their overall ODI history.

On Tuesday (October 14) in Abu Dhabi, the Bangladesh side was bowled out for just 93 while chasing Afghanistan's target of 294. The 'Tigers' faced a disastrous start with the bat once again. Opener Naim Sheikh departed after scoring only 7 runs off 24 balls. Saif Hassan then partnered with Najmul Hossain Shanto, but Shanto returned to the pavilion having scored only 3 runs when the team score was 47.

Saif was the lone fighter, but he too fell for 43, with the team's total at 70. Following his dismissal, Towhid Hridoy (7), Mehidy Miraz (6), and Shamim Patwari (0) were quickly dismissed. Nurul Hasan Sohan also failed, managing only 2 runs. Bangladesh had lost 8 wickets for just 81 runs.

Rishad Hossain was unable to contribute much, scoring 4 runs before being bowled by Bilal Sami. Hasan Mahmud’s dismissal for 9 marked the end of Bangladesh’s innings. The Tigers were all out in 27.1 overs.

For Afghanistan, Bilal Sami was the star with the ball, taking a phenomenal 5 wickets for just 33 runs. Rashid Khan claimed 3 wickets for only 12 runs, building on his 5-wicket haul from the previous match. With a total of 11 wickets in the three-match series, Rashid secured his place in an elite club.

Earlier, after electing to bat first, Afghanistan posted a formidable total of 293 for 9 wickets. Ibrahim Zadran top-scored with 95, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 42. A blistering knock of 62 off 37 balls by Mohammad Nabi in the closing overs helped the Afghans set a big total.

Saif Hassan was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh, taking 3 wickets.
