Bangladesh has scripted a historic chapter in its cricket history by securing a brilliant 78-run victory in the Sylhet Test, completing a two-match series whitewash against Pakistan.

Following their previous victory in the Mirpur Test, this marks the first-time ever that the Tigers have achieved a historic home Test series whitewash against Pakistan.

On the fifth day of the Sylhet Test, Pakistan required 120 runs for victory with three wickets remaining. However, Bangladesh seized control of the match right from the start of the day.

Chasing a daunting target of 437 runs, Pakistan had ended the fourth day at 317 for 7. On the final day, their hopes of a victory rested heavily on the Rizwan-Sajid partnership, but that resistance did not last long.

At the beginning of the fifth day, Mohammad Rizwan and Sajid Khan batted with patience, while Bangladesh missed an early opportunity to wrap things up. Mehidy Hasan Miraz dropped a straightforward catch in the slips off Nahid Rana's bowling, allowing Pakistan to briefly build some pressure.

However, the momentum shifted back decisively in Bangladesh's favor through Taijul Islam’s spin. The left-arm spinner broke the crucial eighth-wicket partnership, dismissing Sajid Khan to complete his five-wicket haul (fifer). Before being dismissed, Sajid contributed 28 runs off 36 balls.

Following that breakthrough, Bangladesh quickly cleaned up the remaining wickets to seal the victory. With this win, the Tigers successfully completed a historic and memorable series whitewash against Pakistan.
