Recently, the performance of Mehidy Hasan Miraz in white-ball cricket has drawn criticism from various quarters. Consequently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has relieved Miraz of his captaincy, appointing T20 captain Litton Das as the new skipper.
The decision was made on Wednesday (July 29) during a meeting of the BCB.
Following Miraz, the ODI captaincy has been handed over to Litton Das. Having already served as the T20 captain, he will now lead the Tigers in both white-ball formats.
BCB President Tamim Iqbal stated that discussions were held with Miraz regarding the matter, and he consented to the decision.
The BCB president explained that the move stems from a strategy to maintain two separate captains for the two different formats (white-ball), entrusting Litton with both ODI and T20 leadership simultaneously.
Meanwhile, Miraz was recently engaged in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). He returned home midway through the tournament today, primarily leaving the LPL to join the national team for their upcoming tour of Australia.
