Local Government (Amendment) Bill-2021 passes in JS

Local Government (Pourosova) (Amendment) Bill, 2021 today passed in the Jatiya Sangsad with an aim to bring more amendment of local Government (Pourosova) Act 2009. Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Tazul Islam moved the bill in the House which was unanimously passed by voice votes with speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Local government elections to begin in December: CEC

The elections in municipalities, districts, upazilas and union councils will begin in December and it will be concluded in May. Municipality elections will be held with help of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). The Election Commission (EC) thinks that holding all the elections such as upazila and union council elections cannot be possible using the EVMs.
