Fear of landslides and flow tide at a height of 12 feet in 16 dists

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that under the influence of Remal, which has taken the form of a strong cyclone, there may be flow tide of 8 to 12 feet in 16 districts. Along with this, the organization has also informed about the fear of landslides in 5 districts due to heavy rains.

On Sunday (May 26), Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman of Bangladesh Meteorological Department informed this in the special notification.

According to the Meteorological Office, the coastal districts of Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Barguna, Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and their nearby islands are extremely affected by strong cyclone. And low-lying areas may be inundated by wind-driven tides 8 to 12 feet higher than normal tides.

Apart from this, heavy (44-88 mm/24 hours) to very heavy (289 mm/24 hours) rainfall with gusty winds may occur in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions under the influence of the strong cyclone. According to the agency, landslides may occur in hilly areas of Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachari and Chattogram due to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the country's Payra and Mongla seaports have been asked to show great danger signal number 10 to avoid possible damage from Cyclone Remal. At the same time, the Directorate of Meteorology has asked to display great danger signal no. 9 at Chattogram and Cox's Bazar seaports.
