The names of several Awami League leaders are coming out in the investigation of the murder of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar. DB is monitoring their movements. Meanwhile, Jhenaidah district Awami League's Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Kazi Kamal Ahmed Babu alias Gas Babu is being interrogated on remand. Investigators said they were getting a lot of unknown information about the murder from him.
Quoting the local Awami League leader, a DB source said that after killing MP Anar in a flat in Kolkata, the killers took pictures of the body. Shimul Bhuiyan sent the photo to Kazi Kamal Ahmed alias Gas Babu's WhatsApp. After receiving the photo, Gas Babu thanked Shimul Bhuiyan. Originally, the local Awami League leader worked for Akhtaruzzaman Shaheen, the mastermind of the murder. Even after the murder, Gas Babu had several conversations with Akhtaruzzaman Shahin about various related issues.
According to DB, Gas Babu, Shimul Bhuiyan and mastermind Akhtaruzzaman Shahin had been planning the murder of MP Anar through WhatsApp chats for three months. Investigators also found multiple WhatsApp chats of them. Besides, Shimul Bhuiyan, one of the accused, gave details in the statement given in the court under section 164.
