Animal slaughter increased during Eid-ul-Azha across the country

This year, a total of 1 crore 4 lakh 8 thousand 918 animals were sacrificed on Eid-ul-Azha across the country. In 2023, the number of animals sacrificed across the country was 1 crore 41 thousand 812. Compared to last year, 3 lakh 67 thousand 106 more animals have been sacrificed this year.

This information was informed by the Ministry of Fish and Livestock on Tuesday (June 18) morning.

According to the data, the highest number of animal sacrifices took place in Dhaka division this year and the least in Mymensingh division.

According to the data obtained from the field level, 25 lakh 29 thousand 182 in Dhaka division, 20 lakh 57 thousand 520 in Chittagong, 24 lakh 26 thousand 111 in Rajshahi, 10 lakh 8 thousand 855 in Khulna, 4 lakh 28 thousand 438 in Barisal, 3 lakh 93 thousand 742 in Sylhet, 11 lakh 72 thousand 553 animals were sacrificed in Rangpur and 3 lakh 92 thousand 517 animals in Mymensingh division.

Among the sacrificed animals, 47 lakh 66 thousand 859 cows, 1 lakh 12 thousand 918 buffaloes, 50 lakh 56 thousand 719 goats, 4 lakh 71 thousand 149 sheep and 1 thousand 273 other animals.
