AL clash with protesters in Munshiganj, 2 killed

At least two killed and 20 people were injured in the clash between the police, Awami League and its affiliates.

The agitators took to the field since morning to observe the non-cooperation movement in Munshiganj due to execute the one-point demand.

The clash took place in capital's Supermarket area at 11 o'clock on Sunday (August 4).

The matter was confirmed by supervisor Abu Hena Mohammad Jamal of Munshiganj General Hospital.

He said, 'Their identity is yet to be confirmed. Both the deceased are men and they are laborers by profession. Their age will be between 22 to 25 years. More than 20 injured people came to the emergency department.

Munshiganj Additional Superintendent of Police Thandar Khairul Hasan said, 'I cannot say the number of casualties yet. However, the police did not make any fire.'

Earlier, the anti-discrimination student movement has announced a unilateral demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet from today.

It should be noted that the coordinator of the organization Nahid Islam led the quota reform movement. He made this announcement at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka around 5:30 pm on Sunday.

On the occasion of August 15 National Day of Mourning day, the ruling Awami League has decided to take a stand on the streets from today and continue to stand on the streets throughout August.
