15, Including 9 Indians, Killed in Saudi Arabia Road Accident

At least 15 people, including nine Indian nationals, lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Saudi Arabia. Several others sustained injuries, with some reported to be in critical condition.

According to Gulf News on Wednesday (January 29), the tragedy occurred near Jizan, a city in western Saudi Arabia. Among the deceased, the remaining six victims were identified as citizens of Nepal and Ghana.

Local reports indicate that the bus, carrying 26 workers, collided with a trailer early in the morning while en route to their workplace.

Ahmed Asiri, spokesperson for the Saudi Red Crescent, informed the Saudi Press Agency that the accident took place just before 6 AM on Sunday in the Wadi Bin Hashbal area of Asir province, located south of Mecca. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Indian Consulate in Jeddah confirmed the presence of Indian nationals among the victims. Expressing condolences, the consulate assured full support to the bereaved families.

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed his sorrow over the tragedy on social media platform X. He conveyed his deep condolences, stating that he had spoken with the Consul General in Jeddah. He also reassured that communication with the families of the affected Indian nationals was ongoing.
