Incharge of Chief Justice is Md. Ashfaqul Islam. He is currently serving as a judge of the Supreme Courts' Appellate Division.

Earlier, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan resigned in the face of the demands of the anti-discrimination student movement. It may take a few hours to complete his resignation, said the interim government's adviser on law, justice and parliamentary affairs Asif Nazrul

It is expected that the process of appointing a Chief Justice will begin after the resignation process is over.

At 10:30 am on Saturday (August 10), Coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Advisor to Ministry of Youth and Sports, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan gave a status on his Facebook page to the Chief Justice to resign unconditionally and stop the full court meeting.

After this, the anti-discrimination student movement gave an ultimatum to all judges of the Appellate Division including Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan to resign.
