Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, is set to travel to Azerbaijan today to participate in the COP-29 Climate Summit, which will be held in Baku.

He is scheduled to depart Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight on Monday, November 11.

Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, confirmed the information, stating that the Chief Advisor will be on an official visit to Azerbaijan from November 11 to 14 to attend the climate conference.

According to the Press Secretary, the Chief Advisor will have a busy schedule during this trip. As one of the nations most vulnerable to climate change, Bangladesh will advocate for its interests in Baku and highlight the damages it faces due to climate change, presenting these issues to the global community.

He added that Professor Yunus will deliver speeches at various forums of the COP-29 summit and is expected to meet with other prominent attendees. Bangladesh’s pioneering role in tackling global climate change will also be emphasized at this summit.

This will be Dr. Yunus's second official trip since assuming responsibility for the interim government on August 8, following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 amid a mass student-led uprising. His first visit was to New York for the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
