ICT Orders to Produce Former Ministers Qamrul, Amu by Wednesday
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (December 02) ordered authorities concerned to produce former food minister Qamrul Islam and former industries minister and Awami League advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu to the tribunal on charges of genocide by Wednesday (December 4).
A bench headed by International Crimes Tribunal Chairman Golam Mortuza Majumder passed the order on Monday (December 2).
According to the prosecutor, the two will be shown arrested in a case filed over crimes against humanity and genocide during the July-August mass uprising.
On November 18, the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained Qamrul Islam from the capital's Uttara area. He was later shown arrested in connection with the murder of Abdul Wadud, a 45-year-old trader at Priyangon Shopping Centre in New Market, who was killed during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19.
Earlier, on November 6, DB police arrested Amir Hossain Amu in the capital. Amu, a member of the Awami League advisory council, faces allegations tied to the same case.
