Bangladesh warmly welcomed China's reaffirmation that the nation's upcoming 13th National Parliament Election 2026 and the Referendum on the July National Charter, is strictly an internal affair.

Dhaka expressed appreciation for Beijing's goodwill and its confidence in the interim government’s ability to conduct a smooth and orderly polling process.

In an official statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Bangladesh deeply values the cordial bilateral relations, which have gained further momentum under the current interim administration.

Dhaka also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the "One China Principle," highlighting it as a consistent pillar of its foreign policy.

The response follows comments made on Wednesday by Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian in Beijing.

Lin underscored China's principle of non-interference, stating that the election is a domestic matter for Bangladesh.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of the interim government and the Bangladeshi people to manage their own affairs and pursue a development path tailored to their national conditions.

Furthermore, the spokesperson shared China's hope for a peaceful election and the steady advancement of Bangladesh's political agenda.
