Campaigning for the upcoming13th National Parliament Election and the Referendum is set to conclude tomorrow (February 10) at 7:30 am.

This marks the end of an electioneering period that began on January 22, adhering to the Election Commission’s requirement that all promotional activities cease 48 hours before the start of polling on February 12.

According to EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, these regulations are strictly enforced under the Political Parties and Candidates Code of Conduct 2025, which limits campaigning to a three-week window ending two days prior to the vote.

On election day, voters across 299 parliamentary constituencies will cast their ballots between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm using paper ballots and transparent boxes.

While the national elections proceed, the Election Commission recently cancelled the race in the Sherpur-3 constituency due to the death of a Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate.

Across the remaining seats, a total of 51 political parties are participating, represented by 2,034 candidates, including 275 independent contenders.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leads the field with 291 candidates under the "sheaf of paddy" symbol.

They are followed by Islami Andolan Bangladesh with 258 candidates using the "hand fan" symbol, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami with 229 candidates under the "scale" symbol.

Additionally, the Jatiya Party has fielded 198 candidates with the "plough," while the Jatiya Nagarik Party (NCP) has 32 contenders with the "water lily bud."

Among the independent candidates, 76 have chosen the "football" as their official symbol.
