Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will address the nation at 7pm today (Tuesday) on the occasion of the upcoming13th National Parliament Election and the Referendum, which is scheduled to be held on Thursday (February 12).

According to the Chief Adviser's Press Wing, Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar will air the speech.

Meanwhile, a total of 12,77,11,899 voters are set to exercise their franchise on Thursday.

According to Election Commission (EC) sources, the voter list includes 12,77,11,899 citizens, comprising 6,48,25,154 men, 6,28,85,525 women and 1,220 individuals from the third gender.

While the country has 300 parliamentary seats, polling will be held in 299 constituencies following the cancellation of the election in Sherpur-3 due to the death of a Jamaat-e-Islami candidate.

Gazipur-2 stands as the largest constituency with 804,333 voters, while Jhalakathi-1 has the fewest with 228,431.

Md Saiful Islam, Director of the EC’s National Identity Registration Wing, confirmed that 51 political parties are participating. Out of the 2,034 total candidates, 275 are running as independents.
