In a powerful televised address to the nation on Tuesday evening, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus called upon the citizens of Bangladesh to transform the upcoming13th National Parliament Election and the Referendum, which is scheduled to be held on Thursday (February 12), into the "birthday of a new Bangladesh."

Emphasizing the weight of the moment, he told the electorate that they hold the power to define the nation's trajectory.

“Your vote will write the history of Bangladesh’s glorious future. Let this election day be the birthday of a new Bangladesh. Let us make this festive election a reality and establish it as a memorable day in history,” he said.

Professor Yunus framed the act of voting as a profound responsibility, urging citizens to take ownership of their collective future.

Highlighting the significance of the national referendum alongside the parliamentary polls, he noted that a vote is not merely a mark on paper but a choice that impacts the security, education, and justice system for the next generation.

“The key to the country is in your hands. Use that key wisely. May Allah guide us on the right path,” the Chief Adviser remarked, adding that the decisions made at the ballot box would influence every level of governance.

He urged the public to “cast your vote and secure your future,” and to approach the historic moment with “responsibility, awareness, and peaceful participation.”

The Chief Adviser also sought to reassure the public, encouraging voters to head to polling stations with hope and unity rather than fear or apathy.

He stressed that a "free, fair, and credible" process is the only way for the people to demonstrate their self-determination.

Addressing the transition of power, Professor Yunus confirmed that the interim government is prepared to exit once the results are finalized.

“We will hand over power to the newly elected government with joy and pride, wish them all-out success, and return to our respective work after bidding farewell,” he stated, noting that the administration is eagerly awaiting this auspicious handover.
