In a landmark statement following the conclusion of polling on Thursday, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus extended his heartfelt congratulations to the nation, hailing the 13th National Parliament Election and the concurrent constitutional Referendum as the dawn of a "New Bangladesh".

Speaking after the polls closed at 4:30 pm on Thursday, the Chief Adviser expressed profound gratitude for the peaceful and festive environment that defined the historic day.

"The spontaneous participation of voters, the responsible conduct of political parties, the restraint shown by candidates, and the professionalism of all institutions collectively demonstrated that our commitment to democracy remains unwavering," Professor Yunus said.

He emphasized that by exercising their constitutional rights, citizens have taken an active role in determining the country's trajectory, effectively ending a long chapter of political uncertainty.

The Chief Adviser offered special commendation to the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, the armed forces, and media personnel for their tireless dedication in managing the "most peaceful and festive election in the country's history."

He noted that the day mirrored a national festival, proving once again that "the people are the source of all power."

Looking toward the post-election period, Professor Yunus called for national unity and democratic decency.

"I call upon political parties and candidates to uphold democratic decency, tolerance and mutual respect even after the final results are announced," he urged.

"Differences of opinion will exist, but in the national interest, we must remain united."
