The newly elected Members of Parliament from the National Citizen Party (NCP) were formally sworn in on Tuesday afternoon, joining the ranks of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.
The ceremony took place at the oath room of the National Parliament building, beginning at approximately 1:20 pm.
The proceedings opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the administration of the oath by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.
The NCP, a student-led political entity born out of the 2024 mass uprising, secured six seats in the February 12 general elections, with prominent leaders such as Nahid Islam and Hasnat Abdullah among those entering the house.
The NCP’s swearing-in followed earlier ceremonies for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), which holds a landslide majority, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
With the completion of these oaths, the legislative body is now set to begin its term under the new political landscape.
