Fuel Supply Normal as Bangladesh Boasts 2.5 Lakh Metric Tons in Stock

Bangladesh’s energy sector remains stable with over 2.5 lakh metric tons of fuel oil currently in reserve, ensuring a normal supply chain across the country.

Joint Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Monir Hossain Chowdhury, confirmed the figures during a press conference at the Secretariat today. As of Thursday, the national stock stands at exactly 255,018 metric tons.

Diesel constitutes the largest portion of the reserve, with 122,660 metric tons available—accounting for approximately 63% of the total stock.

Monir Hossain Chowdhury emphasized that this robust diesel supply is sufficient to guarantee uninterrupted operations in the nation’s vital agriculture, transport, and industrial sectors.

In addition to diesel, the official reported that the country holds 9,210 metric tons of octane, meeting the demands of personal vehicles and high-performance engines, alongside a petrol stock of 12,194 metric tons.

The inventory also includes significant quantities of other essential fuels: 41,876 metric tons of jet fuel, 58,736 metric tons of furnace oil, 9,378 metric tons of kerosene, and 1,153 metric tons of marine fuel. 

The Joint Secretary reassured the public that the current levels are well-positioned to meet the country's immediate and near-term energy requirements without disruption.
