RAB Seizes 1.65 Lakh Liters of Hoarded Edible Oil in Nationwide Crackdown

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has seized approximately 165,025 liters of illegally stockpiled edible oil during a massive nationwide crackdown on market manipulation.

The operation, conducted on Thursday, involved the simultaneous deployment of 20 mobile courts across various regions of the country.

According to an official press release, authorities identified "abnormal stocks" of the essential commodity being hoarded to create artificial shortages.

In response to these irregularities, executive magistrates leading the mobile courts imposed fines totaling BDT 3.53 lakh on the individuals and businesses involved in the hoarding.

The drive is part of the government's ongoing strategy to stabilize the market supply of essential goods and prevent price hikes driven by artificial scarcity.

RAB officials emphasized that these enforcement actions are not one-off events, stating that such operations "will continue to ensure fair distribution and prevent price manipulation" ahead of the upcoming festive season.
