Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma on Monday reaffirmed India’s commitment to working with the government and the people of Bangladesh to enhance people-centric cooperation across all domains.

The envoy emphasized that this partnership remains rooted in mutual interest and benefit.

The statement came during a courtesy call on Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, where both officials discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral interests.

A primary focus of the meeting was the strengthening of ties within the information and broadcasting sectors, specifically through increased engagement between the media and broadcasting institutions of both nations.

To foster deeper people-to-people relations and promote mutual understanding, the two leaders agreed to facilitate more frequent exchange visits for media delegations.

High Commissioner Verma also proposed several capacity-building initiatives for Bangladeshi journalists and media professionals under the Government of India’s ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) program.

As an immediate step, a specialized training course for women journalists from Bangladesh is scheduled to be organized in India soon.

The discussion further extended to the film industry, with both sides exchanging views on organizing film screenings and festivals in each other’s countries.

They also explored potential collaborations in production and providing technological support for post-production activities.
