Bangladesh Railway has announced the operation of five pairs of special trains and three cattle special trains to ensure a smooth journey for holidaymakers during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.

Advance train tickets for the Eid rush will be available for purchase online starting May 13, while return tickets will go on sale from May 21.

According to the schedule released by the railway authorities, tickets sold on May 13 will be valid for travel on May 23.

Tickets for journeys on May 24, 25, 26, and 27 will be sold on May 14, 15, 16, and 17, respectively.

For those planning return trips, tickets for May 31 and June 1, 2, 3, and 4 will be available on May 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25.

Availability for May 28, 29, and 30 will depend on the sighting of the Eid moon.

The decision was finalized during a preparatory meeting held at Rail Bhaban on May 5, chaired by Railways Ministry Secretary Md. Fahimul Islam.

The meeting was attended by State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid, DMP Commissioner Md. Sarwar, Bangladesh Railway Director General Md. Afzal Hossain, and other senior officials.

In a bid to streamline the process, authorities confirmed that all Eid tickets will be sold exclusively online.

A single passenger may purchase a maximum of four tickets per transaction for both advance and return journeys.

Notably, these seasonal tickets will be non-refundable.

Furthermore, weekly off-days for all intercity trains will be suspended from May 23 until the day before Eid to accommodate the increased volume of travelers.

To maintain order and safety, the railway authorities plan to bolster security at major stations, implement strict measures against ticket black marketing, and prohibit rooftop travel.

Mobile courts will also remain active throughout the holiday period to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
