Landmine Blast Kills 3 Bangladeshis Along Myanmar Border

Three Bangladeshi nationals were killed on Sunday after a landmine exploded near the Myanmar border in the Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district.

The deceased have been identified as Leraia, 41, son of Suniong Chakma; Ongke Mong, 50, son of Neomong Chakma; and Chingka Ong, son of Oimong Chakma.

All three victims were residents of the Bhalukia Para area under the Ghumdhum union of the upazila.

Providing details on the incident, Enamul Hasan, the Naikhongchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), said the explosion occurred around noon in the zero-line area near border pillars 42 and 43 along the Bangladesh-Myanmar frontier when they went there to visit their cropland.

Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies of the three victims from the spot.
