Bangladesh achieved a historic milestone at the 10th China-South Asia Expo and the 30th China Kunming Import-Export Fair 2026, securing six prestigious awards as the international trade event concluded in Kunming on Tuesday.

According to a press release, the country's participation was recognized across four distinct categories, highlighting Bangladesh's growing presence in regional and global trade promotion initiatives.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh was honored with the "Outstanding Exhibition Organizer" award.

EPB Director Mohammad Waresh Hossain and Deputy Director Md. Rafiqul Islam received the accolade in the presence of Ridwanur Rahman, the First Secretary (Commercial) of the Bangladesh Consulate in Kunming.

In the "Best Exhibitor" category, three prominent Bangladeshi organizations—Aarong, Sustainable Bangladesh, and Clay Image—were honored for their outstanding participation.

Furthermore, Bangladesh received accolades for "Best Pavilion" and "Best Booth Design", reflecting the high quality and creativity of its national exhibition showcase.

The closing and award distribution ceremony was attended by Sun Ming, the Deputy Director General of the Commerce Department of Yunnan Province, who served as the chief guest.

The high-profile expo, which commenced on June 11 at the Dianchi International Convention & Exhibition Centre, featured Bangladesh prominently as the official Theme Country.

The Bangladesh Pavilion was jointly inaugurated by Bangladesh's Minister for Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, and the Governor of Yunnan Province, Wang Yubo.

The grand inauguration ceremony was attended by a high-level Bangladeshi delegation, including Deputy Speaker of Parliament Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Members of Parliament Akhter Hossain, Md. Khaled Hossain Mahbub, and Sultana Jesmin, as well as Bangladesh Ambassador to China Md. Nazmul Islam.

Also in attendance were EPB Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Hasan Arif, the Consul General of Bangladesh in Kunming, senior government officials, and prominent business leaders.

Speaking at a crucial sideline event titled "Big Market for All: Export to China", EPB Vice-Chairman and CEO Mohammad Hasan Arif highlighted Bangladesh's immense export potential, lucrative investment opportunities, and rapidly expanding trade relations with China.

Marking its highest-ever participation in the history of the expo, Bangladesh was represented by 175 delegates from 101 institutions this year.

The second day of the fair was officially observed as "Bangladesh Day" to honor the nation's pivotal role in the event.

According to the organizers, the massive expo brought together around 2,300 exhibitors from 68 countries, serving as a premier global platform for trade, investment, and economic cooperation across Asia and beyond.
