Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi met with visiting US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor in Dhaka on Friday morning to deliberate on key matters of mutual concern.

The high-level interaction took place at a hotel in the capital city. Characterizing the outcome of the exchange, a diplomatic source from the US delegation confirmed the meeting to a local media, stating, "The meeting was held at a city hotel in the morning. I can only tell you it was a good meeting."

While specific details regarding the exact agenda of the discussion were not publicly disclosed, the engagement highlights ongoing diplomatic coordination between Washington and New Delhi regarding regional affairs.

The meeting comes a month after Gor publicly extended his best wishes to Trivedi on June 25, when the veteran Indian politician formally assumed his assignment in Dhaka.

At that time, Gor expressed optimism about their future cooperation, stating, "As the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, I look forward to working closely with him."

The US Special Envoy’s itinerary in Bangladesh has included several high-profile diplomatic engagements.

Gor held talks with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on Thursday evening, followed by a visit to the Rohingya refugee settlements in Cox's Bazar on Friday. He is slated to hold a formal meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday.

Speaking on the broader trajectory of bilateral relations following his Thursday night meeting with Gor at State Guest House Padma, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman emphasized that ties between Dhaka and Washington are progressing constructively.

"Our engagement with the US is not limited to one meeting. We remain engaged on all aspects and at all levels, and the relationship is moving forward," Dr. Khalilur told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirming that both nations intend to build upon their existing diplomatic achievements.
