A commemorative reception was organized on Wednesday by the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York to observe July Mass Uprising Day, drawing an international gathering of permanent representatives, foreign diplomats, high-ranking UN officials and delegates from diverse international organizations.

According to an official press release issued this morning, Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, honored those who laid down their lives during the historic movement.

Addressing the assembled dignitaries, the ambassador stated that the uprising reflected the enduring aspirations of the people of Bangladesh for democracy, justice, accountability and human dignity.

He further noted that the movement embodied the collective determination of Bangladeshis to build a more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous future.

Elaborating on the national roadmap, Chowdhury drew attention to the administration's 3R Strategy—focusing on Recovery, Restoration, and Reconstruction—and stated that the initiative aims to restore economic stability, rebuild institutions and promote sustainable development.

The envoy also reiterated Bangladesh's steadfast dedication to democratic principles, the foundational tenets of the UN Charter, and enhanced global collaboration.

To offer attendees a deeper perspective on the movement and its pivotal role in the nation's democratic progression, a documentary depicting the events of the July Mass Uprising was featured during the ceremony.
