Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is gearing up for a series of high-profile foreign visits spanning October and November, with upcoming tours slated for Japan to boost investment and labor export, Turkey for the COP31 climate summit, and Saudi Arabia for bilateral engagements.

Additionally, diplomatic channels are actively coordinating a new schedule for an official visit to India, which The Times of India reports could take place during the third week of November, citing relevant sources.

According to diplomatic sources in Tokyo, Riyadh, and Ankara, the Prime Minister’s international itinerary is set to kick off in late October with a visit to Japan, followed by Turkey in early November, and Saudi Arabia in the second half of November.

Preparations and senior-level bureaucratic consultations with the host nations are already underway.

Japan Visit (Late October)
At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to undertake a 3-to-4-day official visit to Tokyo in late October.

Background: This follows former Interim Government Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus’s visit to Tokyo in May 2025, which yielded seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) focusing on energy and technology, alongside a target to send 100,000 skilled Bangladeshi workers to Japan over five years. Japan had also committed to expanding industrial investments and infrastructure development under the Bay of Bengal industrial growth initiative.

Focus Areas: The upcoming trip is expected to prioritize investment expansion, a business summit, and a review of progress on bilateral manpower export goals.

Saudi Arabia Visit (Mid-to-Late November)
At the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, the Prime Minister is expected to visit Riyadh in the second half of November.

Background: Bilateral relations have evolved beyond traditional labor migration in recent years. During a visit to Dhaka last August, Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji expressed strong interest in expanding investments into fisheries, food security, conventional and renewable energy, IT, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Focus Areas: Discussions will likely center on deepening bilateral ties, energy imports, investment pacts, regional and international geopolitics, and securing continued Saudi support on the Rohingya refugee crisis.

Turkey Visit for COP31 (November 10–12)
The Prime Minister will travel to Antalya, Turkey, to participate in the high-level World Leaders Summit during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled to run from November 9 to 20, with the leaders' summit taking place on November 11–12.

Focus Areas: As one of the nations most vulnerable to climate change, Bangladesh’s participation is vital. More than a decade after the Paris Agreement, the focal point of COP31 has shifted from setting new targets to practical implementation, making climate finance and the operationalization of loss and damage funds central to Bangladesh's diplomatic agenda.
