State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir asserted on Monday that no hidden agenda exists regarding the recent agreement signed with Boeing, reiterating that Bangladesh will progressively enlarge Biman's fleet according to operational requirements as the nation strives to transform into a regional aviation hub.

Addressing media representatives at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Humaiun addressed inquiries by stating, “We need to expand the fleet to become an aviation hub. There is nothing....there is no hidden agenda. Bangladesh does it on the basis of needs. We need to expand our fleet.”

The briefing was attended alongside Secretary for Intergovernmental Organizations M. Forhadul Islam and Additional Foreign Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Other Priority Matters AKM Shahidul Karim.

Humaiun further underscored the imperative of building a diversified aircraft fleet to serve the broader interests of the domestic aviation industry.

The state minister characterized Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s trip to the 81st session of the UNGA as "successful and meaningful," highlighting the extensive interactions conducted with international stakeholders over the four-day itinerary in New York.

Humaiun noted that the Prime Minister’s address delivered before the UNGA received widespread acclaim from global participants.

During Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's UNGA mission in New York, national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines finalized an accord with American aerospace maker Boeing to acquire 11 new aircraft.

Shortly before the formal execution of the contract, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen praised the event, stating, “Congratulations to Boeing and Biman on the agreement to purchase 11 more of the world’s best commercial planes. Another win-win for the US-Bangladesh relationship! Will be tuning in to the signing ceremony in New York later.”

This recent agreement follows a previous transaction completed in April, when Bangladesh concluded a deal with Boeing for 14 commercial jets valued at USD 3.7 billion, representing the largest single procurement order in Biman Bangladesh Airlines' history.
