The government is keeping a close watch on individuals who continue to spread doubt and skepticism regarding the upcoming elections, stated Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.

He made these remarks during a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday (January 6).

Confidence in Law Enforcement

Shafiqul Alam noted that three of the largest events in the country’s history—the funeral of Hadi, the return of Tarique Rahman, and the funeral of Khaleda Zia—were conducted without any security incidents.

He emphasized that these successes have significantly bolstered the government's confidence in the capabilities of law enforcement agencies, rendering "baseless doubts" about election security meaningless.

Unprecedented Response to Postal Ballots

The Press Secretary highlighted an "unprecedented response" to the postal ballot system. A total of 1,533,633 people registered online for this facility.

Among them, approximately 700,000 voters are within the country but cannot cast their votes in person due to their assigned duties on election day.

• Referendum Campaign: The government intends to launch a vigorous campaign in favor of the "Yes" vote for the upcoming referendum.
• Security Readiness: Preparations by law enforcement agencies are nearing completion.
• Personnel Training: Training has already been completed for 70% of the personnel who will be deployed for election duties.

The briefing underscores the administration's stance on maintaining stability and its readiness to proceed with the electoral process despite ongoing criticism or concerns.
