The White House has confirmed that a proposal from Iran aimed at ending ongoing hostilities and reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz is currently under review by President Donald Trump and senior administration officials.

National Security Briefing
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt informed reporters that the Iranian proposal is a primary focus of high-level discussions.

"I can confirm that the President met with his national security team this morning," Leavitt stated. "While I cannot confirm if the meeting is still ongoing, the details of the Iranian proposal are being thoroughly discussed there."

The Terms of the Proposal
Tehran’s offer to cease the current conflict and restore maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz—a vital global chokepoint for oil—comes with a significant stipulation.

Iran has reportedly requested that contentious negotiations regarding its nuclear program be postponed and set aside for future discussion rather than being addressed immediately.

Trump’s "Red Line"
Despite the offer, the administration maintains a firm stance on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. President Trump has consistently asserted that Iran will never be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon.

Leavitt emphasized this position, noting that President Trump’s "red lines" regarding Iran remain "extremely clear," signaling that any diplomatic breakthrough will likely depend on meeting the administration's stringent security requirements.
