In a move toward transparency just two days before the national election, the Cabinet Division on Tuesday (February 10) published the asset declarations of the advisers of the interim government and their spouses.

The gazette provides a comparative analysis of their wealth between June 30, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

The disclosure reveals that while the total assets of most advisers increased over the year, a few saw a significant decline in their net worth.

Key Highlights from the Disclosures
Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus: His total assets rose from 14.01 crore BDT in 2024 to 15.62 crore BDT in 2025. Reports indicate the increase was driven by the encashment of savings certificates, higher deposits in savings/fixed-term accounts, and inherited shares.

Wealthiest Adviser: Sheikh Bashiruddin (Adviser for Commerce, Civil Aviation, and Textiles) holds the highest net worth at 91.66 crore BDT, up slightly from 91.11 crore BDT in 2024.

Least Assets: Former Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam reported the lowest assets, totaling 12.77 lakh BDT in 2025 (up from 4.20 lakh BDT in 2024).

National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman: Reported 22 lakh BDT in local assets and 4.64 million USD in offshore wealth (remained unchanged from 2024).

Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud (Planning): Assets increased from 14.32 crore BDT to 16.23 crore BDT.

Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan: Reported assets of 15.35 lakh BDT for 2025.

Exceptions: Professor Ali Riaz, who joined in November 2025, did not have comparative data. Lutfey Siddiqi, the Special Envoy on International Affairs, did not have a statement published as he does not accept government salary or benefits.

The Cabinet Division noted that these valuations follow the Income Tax Act of 2023, categorizing wealth into financial assets (cash, deposits, shares) and non-financial assets (land, property).
