Following a historic landslide victory in the highly anticipated 13th National Parliamentary Elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is preparing to form a new government.

The schedule for the swearing-in ceremony of the BNP-led cabinet has been finalized, marking a significant transition in the nation's leadership.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin is set to administer the oath of office to the new cabinet members on Tuesday, February 17, at 4:00 PM.

The interim government has undertaken extensive preparations to commemorate this historic occasion.

In a major diplomatic move, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has extended invitations to the heads of government from 13 countries—including China, India, and Pakistan—to attend the ceremony for the new cabinet, which will be formed under the leadership of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

A senior official of the interim government confirmed the development to the media on Saturday night (February 14).

Diplomatic Guest List
According to diplomatic sources, the list of invited nations includes:

• East & South Asia: China, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan.
• Middle East: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Turkey.
• Southeast Asia: Malaysia and Brunei.

The decision to invite these 13 heads of government was made by the interim government following consultations with the high-level policy-making leadership of the BNP.

A Historic Venue Change
In a departure from long-standing tradition, the ceremony will not be held at Bangabhaban, the President's official residence.

For the first time in Bangladesh's history, the swearing-in of the new cabinet will take place at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building.

Extensive security and protocol measures are already being implemented at the venue to accommodate both domestic and international dignitaries.

High-level diplomatic communication is ongoing to ensure the presence of foreign guests, while security across the capital, Dhaka, is being significantly bolstered.

Transition Timeline
The road to this transition began on February 12, when the BNP-led alliance secured more than a two-thirds majority in the general elections. The formal transition schedule for Tuesday, February 17, is as follows:

• Morning: The Chief Election Commissioner, A.M.M. Nasir Uddin, will swear in the newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs).
• 4:00 PM: President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the Prime Minister and the new cabinet members.

Once the new cabinet takes the oath, they will officially become the government of Bangladesh. At that moment, the current interim government will stand dissolved, and the Advisory Council’s mandate will automatically expire.
