The Ministry of Public Administration has issued 11 mandatory directives for government officials and employees, emphasizing physical presence in the office during morning hours, austerity in electricity and fuel consumption, and maintaining workplace cleanliness.

On Sunday (March 29), the ministry dispatched a formal letter containing these instructions to all subordinate departments, agencies, and field administration heads, including Divisional Commissioners, District Commissioners (DCs), and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs).

The ministry noted that although the Cabinet Division had previously mandated officials to remain in their offices from 9:00 AM to 9:40 AM and practice responsible energy use, deviations from these rules have been observed.

Consequently, this new set of 11 points has been issued to enforce strict compliance with previous Cabinet orders.

The 11 Directives from the Ministry:

1. Mandatory Morning Presence: Officials must remain in their respective offices from 9:00 AM to 9:40 AM daily. Official schedules and programs must be planned to ensure this window is not disrupted.
2. Natural Light Utilization: Whenever adequate daylight is available, electric lights must be switched off. Windows, doors, or blinds should be kept open to utilize natural light.
3. Essential Use Only: Only the necessary number of lights, fans, air conditioners, and other electrical appliances should be operated during office hours.
4. AC Temperature Settings: Air conditioners must be set to a minimum of 25°C or higher.
5. Exit Protocol: All electrical equipment, including lights, fans, and ACs, must be turned off when leaving an office room.
6. Common Area Conservation: Unnecessary lighting in corridors, stairwells, and washrooms must be discontinued.
7. Post-Office Shutdown: After office hours, it must be ensured that all devices—including computers, printers, scanners, and ACs—are fully powered down.
8. Prohibition of Decorative Lighting: Decorative illumination is prohibited unless specifically authorized by government orders.
9. Fuel Austerity: Measures must be taken to remain economical and efficient in the use of fuel.
10. Cleanliness Standards: Office rooms, corridors, toilets, and stair railings must be cleaned and maintained regularly.
11. Vigilance Teams: All departments, agencies, and offices are required to form "Vigilance Teams" to monitor and ensure the strict implementation of these directives.
