Akbar Hossain has resigned from his position as the Press Minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in the United Kingdom. He was appointed to the role by the interim government in November 2024.

Hossain confirmed the news via a post on his verified Facebook page late Friday night (April 10).

In his post, he stated that his decision to step down was voluntary and driven by strictly personal and family reasons that made it difficult for him to continue his duties in London. He emphasized that the resignation was not related to any other external factors.

The original recruitment notice issued by the Ministry of Public Administration had specified a two-year contractual appointment.

Under the terms of the agreement, the appointee was required to sever all ties with other professions, businesses, or government and private organizations upon taking the role.
