The Ministry of Public Administration has withdrawn Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shawon Majumdar Suman from his current workstation following allegations of creating and using a fake DO (Demi-Official) letter under the name of the Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad to secure unethical benefits.

This information was confirmed in a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (July 27).

According to the notification, Shawon Majumdar, who was serving as the Assistant Commissioner (Land) at the Rangabali Upazila Land Office in Patuakhali, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration. Issued under the president's order in the public interest, the order takes effect immediately.

Earlier, the Parliament Secretariat stated that it came to their attention that a fake DO letter was created by forging the Deputy Speaker's signature, official pad, government logo, and memo number, and was submitted to various ministries and departments in an attempt to gain undue benefits.

The Secretariat clarified that the letter was not issued by the parliament and that the institution has no connection to it.

The Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat stated that instructions have been given to the relevant authorities to take legal action against those involved in the incident.

The Parliament Secretariat also urged government and private institutions, media outlets, and all concerned to verify the authenticity of any DO letter issued in the name of parliament before accepting it in the future.
