State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir has stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will travel to the United Nations carrying the message of the new Bangladesh's progress, noting a possibility of a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump during the visit.

He made these remarks while speaking to journalists at a hotel in the capital on Saturday morning (September 5).

Regarding regional diplomacy, the state minister said that the dates for the Prime Minister’s visit to India have not yet been finalized, though discussions are ongoing.

He emphasized that despite numerous issues with India, channels of communication remain open, and maintaining a good relationship with a neighboring country is essential.

Addressing domestic sectors, Kabir remarked that the energy sector exemplifies how psychopathic levels of corruption were previously carried out.

He added that the government is earnestly working to resolve the ongoing energy crisis, with the Prime Minister placing utmost importance on the sector.

On international alliances and the Mecca Agreement, Kabir noted that discussions regarding the agreement are underway and that joining it would not be unusual for Bangladesh, as many nations currently participate in multiple security blocs. He affirmed that the government will engage wherever necessary based on national interests.

Addressing the procurement of aircraft from the United States, he clarified that no one is imposing Boeing purchases on Bangladesh, noting that acquisitions are driven by domestic demand and additional units will be bought if necessary.

Kabir further stated that labor exports to Malaysia had previously suffered due to syndicates tied to the ousted and banned Awami League regime.

The current government has dismantled these syndicates, and labor exports will now resume in phased steps.
